Shirley Collins - The Bonny Cuckoo

Fledg'ling Records are delighted to continue our ongoing series of Shirley Collins' early recordings on 7 vinyl EP with the release of some previously unreleased early recordings.These four spectral, magical performances were recorded by Alan Lomax in London on 20th October 1957. Shirley sings two songs - Bonny Cuckoo and Bonny Labouring Boy -unaccompanied and with her own banjo accompanied. These very rare recordings have been carefully re-mastered from the only known surviving acetate, packaged in a front-laminated, flipback sleeve, and with a beautifully illustrated inner bag showing rare Shirley Collins photographs and ephemera.
